Beagle Direct Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 June 2026

This notice explains how Beagle Direct Ltd handles your personal data when you use Beagle Direct, whether you are a homeowner sending an enquiry or a tradesman listing on the platform.

This page is provided for information and we will keep it current, dating each change at the top. It is not legal advice. Some items below are sensible defaults still to be confirmed, and are flagged where they appear.

1 Who we are

Beagle Direct is provided by Beagle Direct Ltd, a private company limited by shares registered in England and Wales, company number 17290514, registered office 124-128 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX. For the personal data covered by this notice, we are the controller: we decide what data is collected and why.

2 Personal data we collect

From homeowners

  • your name and contact details;
  • the address or postcode of the job;
  • the details of your enquiry, what you need doing; and
  • device and usage data, generated when you use the platform.

From tradesmen

  • your name and business and contact details;
  • your trade and qualifications;
  • examples of your work;
  • verification details we use to check what you list; and
  • payment details where relevant.

3 Where we get it

We get most of this directly from you, when you send an enquiry, set up a listing, or use the platform. Some device and usage data is generated automatically as you use the site, and we may receive verification information from a provider we use to check a tradesman's details.

4 Purposes and lawful bases

We use your data for the purposes below, each with its lawful basis under UK GDPR:

PurposeLawful basis
To match a homeowner with suitable tradesmen and help book the jobPerformance of a contract, or steps at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the platform
To verify a tradesman's details, cover and qualificationsLegitimate interests: keeping the platform trustworthy and protecting homeowners
To send service emails about your enquiry or bookingPerformance of a contract
To send marketing about Beagle DirectConsent, or the soft opt-in for existing users, with an easy way to opt out at any time
To prevent fraud, keep the platform secure, and meet legal dutiesLegitimate interests; legal obligation

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed our interest against your rights, and you can ask us about that.

5 Sharing homeowners and tradesmen with each other

Beagle Direct works by introducing the two sides, so some sharing is the point of the service. To be plain about it:

  • when you send an enquiry as a homeowner, your enquiry, including the job details and what is needed to make contact, is shared with the tradesmen we show you for that job; and
  • a tradesman's details and examples of their work are shown to homeowners who are looking for that kind of work.

Once you are in contact, the homeowner and the tradesman deal with each other directly, and any information you then share with each other is between you.

6 Other recipients and processors

We use the following categories of provider to help us run the platform, and we share personal data with them only as needed for that purpose:

  • Hosting and infrastructure: Cloudflare.
  • Transactional email: an email-delivery provider, to be confirmed by us.
  • Analytics: an analytics provider, to be confirmed.
  • Payment processing: a payment provider, to be confirmed.
  • Verification: a provider used to check tradesmen's details, to be confirmed.

We will name each provider here once it is set, and we require every one to protect personal data and to process it only on our instructions.

7 International transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, we put a lawful safeguard in place: an International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or reliance on UK adequacy where the destination has it. The actual list of transfers depends on the final providers and is to be confirmed alongside the recipient list in section 6.

8 How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data for a stated period after the job is done or an enquiry is abandoned, then delete it. We keep a tradesman's data while their listing is active and for a short period after it ends. We keep financial records for six years, as UK tax law requires. These periods are stated as defaults and are to be confirmed.

9 Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls and encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, but we take steps proportionate to the data we hold.

10 Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access);
  • have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
  • have data erased in certain cases (erasure);
  • ask us to restrict how we use your data (restriction);
  • object to processing we base on legitimate interests, and to marketing (objection);
  • receive certain data in a portable form (portability);
  • rights in relation to automated decisions (see section 11); and
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in section 16.

11 Automated decision-making

Matching a homeowner to tradesmen may use automated logic to work out which tradesmen are suitable and available. But a person chooses which tradesman to contact and makes the booking. Because a person decides, we do not make decisions about you that are based solely on automated processing and that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

12 Complaining to the ICO

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, please come to us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF; helpline 0303 123 1113; ico.org.uk.

13 Cookies and analytics

We use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site. For non-essential cookies, including analytics cookies, we ask for your consent first, and we do not use pre-ticked boxes. You can change your choice at any time. The exact list of cookies is to be confirmed once the analytics stack is set, and this notice will be updated to show it.

14 Children

Beagle Direct is for adults arranging work on their property. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect the personal data of children.

15 Changes to this notice
